Have been using the yankee bay insert for 4 years now and it has sucked from year one. In the first winter the circuit board went out right before the holidays and we couldnt have it fixed for nearly a week during major snow, it was our only source of heat and inside temps dropped to the 30's. Shuts down alot due to pellets piling up/....yes I know how to keep the air movement adjusted properly. This year now the convection fan shuts off and on sometimes overheating the unit to where the pellets in the hopper smoke or steam and the stove shuts down. Just found out thats not on warranty anymore. The motors are only good for two winters, around here that is about 8 months of operation. The Lopi couldnt handle it. DO NOT BUY A LOPI OR AVALON both are made by travis industries they SUCK.

Had mine 6-7 years. 2 circuit boards replaced......lightning hit my transformer pole and the next time the neighbors. Blew up the surge arrestors also. Dealer replaced cracked burn pot last year. I usually burn 3 tons per season. I have the wall thermostat installed and works perfectly. Northwest-central Oklahoma.

We have had our Yankee Bay Pellet Insert for almost 6 yrs. We have had nothing but problems with it. Burn put, baffles and rod replaced 3 times because they burned out. Shuts down all the time, overloads with pellets, the igniter only works about half the time. I have had to fight with the store where we bought it to enforce the warranty on items needing to be replaced. This is the most expensive piece of crap I have ever owned. We have a Whitman Pellet stove in our shop and it works wonderfully, we have had it for 15 yrs and never had anything done with it. If I had a place for it in my house it would be in here, and I would try and sell this piece of shit. Ticked off in Graham,WA

We've had our Lopi Yankee Bay for 6 years, and with the exception of the baffles rusting out and the firepot warping during this past year (both covered and replaced under warranty) we've had no problems at all with it. I would buy another and would recommend it to friends and family.

Running a yankee bay insert for year #3 and hate it. It shuts down frequently (twice so far this week) - for some reason pellets stop feeding, it just about goes out and then pellets start coming out again, lots of them. We find the stove out with a pile of pellets in the burn pot. And it is a pain to clean. Buy a Harman. NH, 12/16/2010

Sounds like either crappy pellets or a bad installation. Mine has worked fine for the past four years with only two minor glitches: a bad igniter and a failed auger bearing. The former goes bad on occasion, and the later was from bad maintenance on my part. I had some bad pellets and didn't vacuum out the fines the way I should have.

What results did you receive from the dealer - how is your stove running now?

I just had my yankee bay installed yesterday, unfortunately the installer had never installed one before, ( the store where I purchased the stove sub contracted). Stove worked for about 12 hours and when I came down this am stove was out and piles of ash in ash bucket. I could not get it to restart, it appears that the auger will not feed pellets. Of course its Sunday morning and the store where I purchased the stove is not open. So far I am not a happy camper. I hope Frost and Flame in Gorham, Me. makes this right tomorrow .
